Companion to Kaia Hawthorne
Fenn is the lifelong companion of Kaia Hawthorne and once belonged to her late mother, the renowned mage Myra Hawthorne. Known throughout Lysara's Watch for his quiet intelligence and unwavering devotion, Fenn has remained by Kaia's side since her earliest days. According to her father, Galen Hawthorne, Fenn never left Myra's side during her years at the Arcanum or afterward. When Myra passed, the fox became withdrawn, until the day Kaia first held him. From that moment forward, he followed her everywhere, as though recognizing something familiar in her presence.
Fenn's fur is silvery white, smooth and sleek, catching faint violet hues when touched by light. His eyes, a vivid amethyst, match Kaia's glow, one of many subtle resemblances between mother and daughter. Locals often remark on the resemblance, saying it is as if the creature still carries a part of Myra's spirit. He moves with quiet grace, and his coat can darken or pale depending on his surroundings, a natural trait found in certain foxes near the Myrwood.
Fenn rarely leaves Kaia's side. He is calm and alert, reacting to her moods with uncanny awareness. When she studies, he lies across her feet; when she walks through the forest paths near their home, he circles ahead, scanning the trail.
Fenn is registered with the Arcanum under the Companion Animal Provision of the Firstlight Enrollment Charter. His behavior has been noted as "unusually perceptive," and several instructors have remarked on his apparent awareness of magical phenomena. While officially considered a normal fox, more than one observer has privately wondered whether the creature's loyalty to the Hawthorne line is something deeper.
Once the companion of Myra Hawthorne, Fenn now serves as her daughter's protector and confidant. His quiet intelligence and steadfast devotion have made him a familiar figure both in Lysara's Watch and within the halls of the Arcanum. To Kaia, he is a living connection to her mother: a reminder that love, once kindled, can survive in forms beyond understanding.
