    Dragonlore Emporium

All Required Textbooks & General Reading

    About

    Proprietor: Master Librarian Tobias Wrenn

Specialty: All Required Textbooks & General Reading

The Valemere location of the renowned Dragonlore Emporium chain, managed by Master Librarian Tobias Wrenn for the past fifteen years. Wrenn is a former Arcanum graduate.

    Layout

    Ground Floor

    • Main entrance with soaring ceiling (two stories high)
    • Current textbooks and bestsellers on floating shelves
    • Central checkout desk where Tobias usually stands
    • Course materials organized by year and subject
    • Books fly to customers when requested by name
    • Crystal bell that chimes when you've found 'the book you didn't know you needed'

The Inkwell Café (Ground Floor, Left Side)

A cozy coffee shop built into the bookstore with a menu board written in glowing script that changes daily. The café serves hot and cold drinks (spiced cider, enchanted espresso, honey-lavender tea, iced starfruit refreshers), baked goods (crescent moon cookies, spell-book shaped pastries, cinnamon scrolls), and small sandwiches.

Food delivers itself to reading nooks throughout the store via floating trays carried on shimmering Aetheric fields. Prices are reasonable, designed for students on budgets.

Run by a cheerful barista named Alexis who knows every regular's order. She loves chatting and is always there to lend an ear when a student is having problems, offering great advice.

    Second Floor

    • Historical texts and rare editions
    • Special orders desk
    • Corner dedicated to 'Student Favorites' with Tobias's handwritten recommendation cards
    • More reading nooks scattered between shelves

    Third Floor: The Reading Sanctuary

Dedicated entirely to comfortable reading spaces. Quieter and more intimate than lower floors, serving as the 'escape' level.

    Spiral Staircase

Made of stacked books (magically reinforced and totally safe). Books change titles as you climb, always relevant to what you're thinking about. Creaks pleasantly like old library floors.

    The Enchanted Reading Nooks

Scattered throughout all three floors (15-20 nooks total), each contains giant plush bean bag chairs in jewel tones (sapphire, emerald, ruby, amethyst), fluffy oversized couches with more pillows than necessary, and small side tables that appear when needed.

    The Enchantment

When you settle into a reading nook with a book, the space around you transforms into an immersive sensory environment. The enchantment reads your mood and book choice, creating the environment most conducive to that reading experience. Examples include:

    • Autumn Forest Glade: golden-leafed trees, apple pie scent, dappled sunlight, distant brook
    • Rainy Castle Night: stone walls, rain on Gothic windows, crackling fireplace, thunder rumbles
    • Seaside Cliff at Sunset: ocean breeze with salt air, crashing waves, seabirds, warm golden light
    • Mountain Library in Winter: snow outside tall windows, hot chocolate scent, distant wind
    • Spring Garden at Dawn: flowering vines, birds singing, dew on grass, jasmine scent
    • Desert Oasis at Twilight: palm trees, cool evening air, exotic spices, gentle fountain

The magic is subtle; you remain aware you're in a bookstore, but the ambience is perfect. Food from The Inkwell Café floats directly to your nook on request via a small silver bell that appears on your side table.
